The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. ToadReleased: October 5th, 1949
Ohhhh, Ichabod Crane, why are you the best cartoon ever?
Rank | Title | Year | Grade |
---|---|---|---|
20 | The Three Caballeros | 1944 | B- |
21 | The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad | 1949 | B- |
22 | The Fox and the Hound | 1981 | C |
This is a CLASSIC. To be honest, I don't know if I've ever watched the Mr. Toad segment all the way through, but it was a great one. I'm actually shocked at how little I know about Wind in the Willows, and I feel like I should read it. I didn't realize Mr. Toad was landed gentry. 😂
Notable Grossness
The fat girl at the Van Tassel's party is the ugly, annoying one that Brom makes a disgusted face about and then tries to pass off on Ichabod.
Of course, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is perfect at Halloween, and other than it's weird random fat-shaming, it's a complete joy. The animation is great, the action is intense and scary, and the characters are well developed (except for Katrina). I wish the entire plot wasn't the rivalry between Brom and Ichabod, but aside from that, it's really just a joyful thing to watch. To me this is peak Disney short cartoon.
